What is First Aid?

A person has fallen down from stairs what would you do? What will be your timely response to it? For that you need to know the basics of first aid. First aid is the medical attention given to anyone who needs it.

First aid kit is essential for every household especially if you’ve got kids at home. You should be able to help with basic first aid if needed; to give proper first aid you’ll need fully equipped first aid kit. What essentials do you need for first aid is as follows?

Basic CPR for sudden cardiac arrest

CPR is very basic first aid which needs to be excelled by every individual. Such an emergency life-saving procedure should be done when an individual’s breathing or heartbeat suddenly stops. Right after which brain damage could be caused within minutes of cardiac arrest, so the advantages of knowing and performing CPR to save a life are countless. First Aid for Bleeding

If you are a working in the kitchen and suddenly cut your finger deeply you’ll be needing first aid kit to stop the bleeding. If cut is minor you can simply put a bandage to get the job done. However, if it is a deep cut you’ll need to cover it with gauze or a cloth. And then put direct pressure to it and tie it up to stop the bleeding.

 Treating a burn

There are different levels of burn; you might not be able to identify it if non-professional. Still you can treat minor burn at home with the help of first aid kit. What do you need to treat burn? Run cool water over the afflicted area (avoid icy or very cold water). Avoid breaking any blisters; apply moisturizer or aloe Vera gel to help cool the affected area. Keep out of sunlight for some time, if you feel irritated you can take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain relief.

Allergic Reactions

The most common use of first aid is allergic reaction. Bee stings, certain foods, or drug ingredients can cause allergic reactions. Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening allergic reaction that can be caused by all of those mention allergens. It is suggested to treat an allergic reaction by using an EpiPen. EpiPen, or “epinephrine autoinjector,” is a small and ergonomic needle that’s used to inject epinephrine (adrenaline) into someone suffering greatly from an allergic reaction. The epinephrine usually subdues the effects of the allergic reaction.
